The Mira Costa boys tennis team defeated Beverly Hills 17-1, on Mar. 28 at Beverly Hills High School. The top performers of the match included Evan Fortier for a win in all of his sets.
Fortier won his sets 6-0, 6-1, and 6-0. Doubles pairs, including seniors Ben Chromanski and Shant Samuelian, defeated their opponents 6-1, 6-3, and for their third match they headed into a tie-breaker where they were able to pull out 7-6 win. Costa remained a prominent force throughout the matches and that momentum continued into junior Kyle Sillman’s singles match where he won 6-0, 6-1 and 6-1.
“Our strength today was our ability to play smart points throughout all the matches,” Fortier said.
The Mustangs are currently 12-0 overall and 5-0 in Bay League. Their next match will be on Apr. 12 where they will take on Peninsula at Peninsula High School.
“My favorite part of the team is the bond we have and getting to travel and play with such supportive guys,” Fortier said.
