Mira Costa’s baseball team defeated the San Ramon Valley High School Wolves, 8-5, on Wednesday, April 4. in the Mustang’s second game of the Righetti Classic Tournament.
The Mustangs began the game strong on offense, scoring two runs in the very first inning while only allowing the Wolves one run in the inning. The Mustangs continued their scoring throughout the game scoring one run an inning until the fifth when they scored three runs. The Wolves kept fighting but were eventually outmatched by Costa by a score of 8-5.
“Defensively it wasn’t our greatest performance ever, but it was good enough,” senior Chris Penna said.
The Mustangs now 11-1 will face the Sunnyside Wildcats in their next game of the tournament. The Mustangs are looking for a win in this game to continue on in the tournament.
“We got our leadoff guys on and did whatever we could to get them in. We had a plan and stuck to it,” junior pitcher Christian Bodlovich said.
