Costa Baseball overcomes Sunnyside

Mira Costa’s baseball team defeated the Sunnyside High School Wildcats 4-0 in the Righetti Classic baseball tournament on Wednesday, April 4.

With an electric offense, Costa was able to overwhelm the Sunnyside Wildcats in the Mustang’s second game of their doubleheader day. The Mustangs’ defense also excelled with Mustang pitchers striking out Wildcat batters and forcing ground balls to the middle infield.

“We did a great job stringing hits together when it mattered,” senior Parker MacDonald said

The Mustangs now 12-1 will face the Paraclete High School Spirits in their next game of the tournament. This is a must-win game for the Mustangs in order to advance in the tournament.

“We were able to backup [our teammates] when they needed us,” Penna said.
