Costa Baseball defeats Chaminade Eagles in Semifinals of Righetti Classic

The Mira Costa baseball team defeated the Chaminade High School Eagles 4-3 in the semifinals of the Righetti Classic Baseball Tournament on Friday, April 6. at Paso Robles High School.  

The Mustangs scored 4 early runs on the Eagles, then relied on their dominant pitching and defense to win the game. Pitchers Joey Acosta and Merrick Baldo controlled the rest of the game, only allowing Chaminade 3 runs. The Mustangs were victorious by a 4-3 score and headed to the finals to face the Foothill knights.

“It was really good for the bats to wake up now because this was a big tournament,” Chris Penna said.

The Mustangs are now currently 14-1 overall and will next face off against the Foothill High School Knights in the Championship Tournament game.

“Our offense really woke up for the tournament, Chris Penna, Dylan Dennis, and Bash Alexiades really stepped up and competed,” junior Merrick Baldo said
