The Mira Costa boys lacrosse team was narrowly defeated by Palisades High School, 15-13, at Palisades High School on Thursday, April 12. The top performer included junior attacker Connor Barnes for solid offense to lead the Mustangs with three goals.
The Mustangs started out the game strong with a 8-4 lead but eventually lost their momentum, allowing Palisades to score ten back to back goals. Along with Barnes, junior attacker Josh Maruyama and junior midfielder Max Geoghan both individually scored three goals to help add points to the board. Costa’s effort proved not enough to defeat the Palisades, falling short by a deficit of two points.
“We started off really strong but we let things start to get out of hand,” sophomore Dane Weber said. “We started to come back but we just couldn’t come back in time and overall it was a hard fight but we came up short.”
The Mira Costa boys lacrosse team is now currently 8-4 overall and will next face off against Sierra Canyon High School at home on senior night.
“Next game is senior night so hopefully we can have a strong showing going into the bay league playoffs, and eventually into CIF,” sophomore Dane Weber said.
