The Mira Costa boys tennis team defeated Arcadia High School 13-5, on Monday, Apr. 16 at home. The top performers of the match included doubles partners, freshman Julien Lilla and junior Matthew Poh, and as well as sophomore singles player Tim Dzhurinskiy for winning all of their sets.
Lilla and Poh won their sets 6-4, 6-3, and 6-2 while doubles pairs, junior Ethan Han and senior Shant Samuelian, won their sets 6-4, 6-2, and 6-1. Dzhurinskiy won his sets 6-4, 6-1, and 6-2 and senior Evan Fortier won his singles sets 6-0, 6-4 and lost 3-6.
“I think the lack of playing against quality opponents hurt us so we have to get better about playing against quality opponents,” head coach Joe Ciasulli said.
The Mustangs are currently 14-1 overall and 5-1 in Bay League. On Tuesday Apr. 17, the Mustangs will take on the Palos Verdes Seakings at home.
“Favorite thing about being on the costa team is getting to play other amazing teams in SoCal that are by far some of the strongest in the nation,” Dzhurinskiy said.
