The Mira Costa boys volleyball team defeated Peninsula in 4 sets on Tuesday, April 17 at Peninsula High School. The top performer of the match included sophomore setter, Jack Walmer, who led the Mustangs’ offense with his successful sets.
Costa lost the first set because of their unforced errors and inability to pass in serve recieve. In the next three sets though, senior outside hitters, Max Cajuste and Dane Johnson led the team with kills as well as putting up huge blocks that scored the Mustangs critical points.
“Our biggest strength was our ability to respond in the game but our biggest weakness was that we were going into the match overconfident,” junior Thomas Kretschmer said.
The Mustangs’ overall record is now 7-1, Bay League 5-1 and their next opponent is Palos Verdes High School on Thursday, March 19 at home. The Mustangs fell short to the Seakings in their prior match and are looking for a win, according to Walmer.
“I want to improve on being more consistent on all aspects of what I do in the game,” Walmer said.
