The Mira Costa tennis team defeated Palos Verdes High School 11-7, on Tuesday, Apr. 17 at Palos Verdes High School. The top performers of the match included junior Kyle Sillman for winning all of his sets.
Sillman won his sets 6-2, 6-2, and 6-3 and other singles player sophomore Tim Dzhurinskiy won his sets 6-2, 6-3, and 7-6. On the doubles side, junior Matthew Poh and senior Evan Fortier won thier sets 6-1, 6-4, and 6-1 which ultimately led the Mustangs to prevail over the Seakings, placing them 1st in Bay League.
“I prefer to play singles because everything is in my hands when I am playing,” sophomore Tim Dzhurinskiy said.
The Mustangs are currently 15-1 overall and 6-1 in Bay League. The Mustangs’ next match will take place on Thursday, Apr. 19 at home against hometown rival, Redondo Union.
“I prefer to play by myself because if I end up losing then iI am the only one that is responsible,” Dzhurinskiy said.
