Despite their highly anticipated performance, Migos failed to entertain with their overconfident attitude, low energy, technical mishaps and overall poor performance of hit songs.
Migos is a hip hop group consisting of rappers Quavo, Offset and Takeoff, who first appeared in the hip-hop world in 2013 with their release of the hit song “Versace.” The group gained more popularity with the release of their iconic song, “Bad and Boujee,” as well as their features on other popular artists’ songs including DJ Khaled.
Their performance was disappointing even before the trio appeared on stage, as the DJ, who came out to hype up the audience, was unable to do so. Not only were they late to their set, but in addition, the speakers during the DJ’s performance were grainy, making it hard for the audience to understand what he was saying. The presence of the DJ made people more eager to see Migos and even more disappointed with their eventual performance.
Once the group finally took the stage, the technical difficulties were resolved, however, the energy of the crowd was already much lower than it had been prior to their arrival. Migos did a poor job at interacting with the audience and each other, as they hardly moved around the stage as they performed.
Migos is celebrated for their catchy songs, but their delivery of these tracks fell far below expectations. Some of their most popular songs, such as “Fight Night” and “Motorsport” were difficult to understand. This detracted significantly from their performance as audience members anticipated these songs and were ultimately let down.
Migos’s set was short because they were late to their set time and many audience members left early due to the poor production. With their lack of energy, entertainment, and overall regard for their fans, Migos delivered an underwhelming performance at their first time on the Coachella lineup.
