Senior Vinnie Perry pleases “Walking Dead” enthusiasts with his thrilling, yet emotional video clips from each season of the “Walking Dead.”

Self-taught, Perry has been posting and editing videos for the past 18 months on YouTube. In the video making process he starts with the music he gets on soundcloud and published playlists, then he downloads the music and starts putting together pieces of the video and begins editing. He uses software, such as Final Cut X, Final Cut 10, and Adobe Photoshop for special effects and thumbnails.

“I never had anyone in my life who taught me how to edit,” Perry said. I just found videos online and I’m obsessed with watching edits of T.V. shows. I thought why can’t I do it. So I just picked it up.”

Perry has been a huge fan of “The Walking Dead” since he was 11 years old, so he decided to use this show to make video edits of. Perry said he also gained inspiration from a youtuber named Infinity Fye, who made him want to start making videos in his similar editing style.

“Since I follow so many people on YouTube that make similar edits, I will watch those videos,” Perry said. If I am feeling unmotivated and have no passion at the time, I can watch a ton of these videos and I might get some momentum off the editing community.”

Perry has created a total of 50 videos on his youtube channel titled “Beyond.” Perry started out with 15 views on average per video, and in 2017 he reached 70 thousand views on youtube. In his videos, he focuses on capturing the human elements of the walking dead such as emotions instead of focusing on the killing scenes.

“I have viewers that watch the “Walking Dead” and I have viewers that don’t watch the Walking Dead,” Perry said. “I want the “Walking Dead” fans to see what an amazing show it is. I want the people who don’t watch the show to get exposed to it and see if it is a show they would watch.”

Each video takes about one to two weeks to make and the average length for a video is two minutes and 30 seconds. Perry said that each minute in the video takes a day to create. He has also worked on a few collaborative videos with editors in his YouTube community.

“The hardest part about editing videos is having consistently good content,” Perry said. “You only have so many scenes and quotes you can choose without having it getting stale. The most difficult thing is finding that balance of new elements and new effects and new editing techniques and styles to keep my content quality.”

Perry just finished his break from making videos and he is now starting to make more videos since the last season just ended. He just published a video a few weeks ago called “Flesh And Bones” and now he is currently working on a video called “Lapse” that is coming out this week.

“My goal is to reach 10K subscribers on youtube and I am almost at 5K and I didn’t even expect to past 1K so that is been big enough to me,” Perry said. “One of my biggest milestones was that I got 1 million views on my youtube channel alone. I would like to boost my statistics and analytics.
