The Mira Costa boys volleyball team fell short to Huntington Beach High School in 5 sets on Wednesday, May 2 at home. The top performer of the match included junior middle blocker, Adam Sevier who had numerous blocks and consistent hits throughout the match.
The Mustangs’ came out with high energy and were able to put balls away leading to a victory in the first set. Huntington then started to put up consistent blocks and swings leading them to wins in the second and fourth sets. The match came down to the fifth set where Huntington’s offense was very dominant upon Costa resulting in a win for the Oilers.
“We had great middle attacks and our passing and hitting was strong throughout the sets,” sophomore outside Sam Collins said.
The Mustangs’ overall record is now 9-3, Bay League 7-1, and their next opponent is to be determined in the CIF bracket. Costa has overcome a lot this season and is very excited for the upcoming games according to junior defensive specialist Will Bond.
“I think our biggest strength this season was being able to deal with all of the adversity we faced,” Bond said.
