Claire DuMont and Naomi Tsuang
Editors-in-chief
During our three years on La Vista, the most prominent theme has been change. We’ve worked with three advisors, become part of the Media Art Department and seen our two room complex cut down to one as Yearbook moved in next door. From this we have learned that with change comes growth and a newfound recognition for the things that stay the same. We’ve had friends come and go in La Vista, but we’ve always found a way to keep our friendship a constant.
As we take on the challenge of being editors-in-chief together, we have the classic mix of fear and excitement for the year ahead. Both of us have a profound dislike for change, but we know that with change comes the opportunity to push our limits and go out of our comfort zones.
Now tasked with upholding the standards that our predecessors set for us, we are responsible for keeping La Vista the reputable source of news and journalism for Costa and its surrounding communities that it has become.
To Claire and Wyatt: we cannot thank you enough for the leadership and guidance that you have shown us. We truly hope we can emulate your abilities to be both assertive and amicable to the staff. Just as the editors-in-chief before us, we plan to uphold journalistic integrity and the responsibility that we have to tell the truth, no matter the consequences. As we lead the way to a new year of success and failure, we will keep in mind those that came before us.
To this year’s new editorial staff: We cannot wait to work with you on nine more issues and see you transform into experienced and dedicated journalists. We know that you are more than ready to fill the shoes of the seniors, going above and beyond our expectations. From our closet turned office to you, welcome to La Vista 2018-2019.
