Mira Costa Principal Dr. Ben Dale sent out an email on Tuesday night informing parents and staff about an indecent exposure incident that occured while two Costa students were jogging that same afternoon.
The students were jogging in the area of Herrin and Voorhees and the Manhattan Beach Police Department is currently investigating the situation. Costa agreed to cooperate with the police as needed, Dale said.
“Unfortunately this is a reminder to stay safe, vigilant, and report suspicious activity to the police,” Dale said in the email. “Our athletes were aware of their surrounding, and both athletes and coaches responded quickly and efficiently to us.”
A similar incident occured on Sept. 5 when two female students were on their way home from school when a man exposed himseld to the girls. According to the MBPD, detectives arrested the alleged culprit, Carson resident Richard Eugene Milton.
“We were at the back of the pack and we noticed the man following us for a few laps,” one of the unnamed female suspects said. “Then he pulled up next to us and his windows were down. I looked into his car and saw what was happening.”
