The Mira Costa Girls tennis team beat Palos Verdes 8-10 on September 18, 2018 .
Costa dominated the game winning 10-8. In singles junior, Audrey Vo and freshman, Haily Hyunh each won two sets, 6-3 and 6-1, and 6-2- and 6-3. Senior Lindsay Giese along with freshman, Nicole Wuelfing, and freshman Sydney Vo along with sophomore Kacey Feng each won three sets in doubles, scoring 7-5, 7-5, and 6-4, and 6-3, 6-3, and 6-3 respectively.
“The match on Tuesday was the biggest win of the year,” said senior Kendall Lebins. “We have never been able to beat PV, they have such a strong team every year and even this year they have an amazing team, but our team pulled through. The score came down to us barely winning by only one match but our team has a lot of dedication and we pulled through when we needed it most.”
Mira Costa is now 8-2 overall and 1-0 in the Bay League and will next face off Peninsula at Peninsula on the 25th.
“I’m really excited because they will be probably equally as hard as [Palos Verdes] so I’m excited to show them that we are a force in bay league.” Giese said. “It should be very intense and fun.”
