Lil Wayne’s, “Tha Carter V” finally arrives this season after a four-year long legal dispute with Cash Money Records. This album proves to be a powerful reflection on Lil Wayne’s recent personal hardships which include guns, hospitalization, incarceration, drugs and a multitude of controversies.
Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter V” is filled with empowering lyrics, and the way he shows his vocal range throughout this album is extraordinary. With this album, Lil Wayne finally got rid of the awful, overbearing auto-tune.
‘Tha Carter V’ is now the fifth installment in Lil Wayne’s ‘Carter’ series. The album includes many popular artists including XXXTENTACION, Travis Scott, Nikki Minaj and Kendrick Lamar.
This album depicts a challenging time period in Lil Wayne’s life. The first song on the album, “I Love You Dwayne,” is an emotional speech by Lil Wayne’s mother. Wayne’s mother, Jacida Carter, is in somber tears talking about how proud she is of her son and his big accomplishment after finally releasing the album.
In one of the more serious songs in the album, “Let It All Work Out,” Wayne tells a story about when he was only twelve years old and got ahold of his mothers pistol and nearly shot and killed himself. This isn’t the first time Wayne has told this story in a song, but this time acts as if he is a preacher preaching the gospel in this song with a very light beat in the background.
After many delays, Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter V” was finally released on September 28th. This album is available to buy on Amazon music and iTunes, and also can be streamed on platforms such as Spotify and Pandora.
