“Little Fockers” is the third film in the “Meet the Parents” franchise, and it is at least three times worse than its predecessors. While the first film was actually enjoyable, the original story has been dragged on for too long without a good plotline.
The well-casted actors and few comical scenes seemed to be the only enjoyable components in the movie. However, the plot was confusing and boring.
In “Little Fockers,” Grandpa Jack (Robert De Niro) has a bad heart condition and tells his son-in-law Greg Focker (Ben Stiller) that he needs to take over as the “Godfocker.” As the “Godfocker,” Greg’s job is to watch over the Focker family- his wife (Teri Polo) and their two twins (Daisy Tahan and Colin Baiocchi).
As the movie progresses, Grandpa Jack suspects Greg of having an affair with the flirty pharmaceutical representative (Jessica Alba) who Greg works with. Grandpa Jack becomes paranoid with his new suspicion about Greg and mayhem strikes at the twins’ birthday party. During the climax of the movie, the truth unfolds, and Grandpa Jack apologizes for ever doubting the innocent Greg.
What makes the movie manageable to sit through is the excellent actors. Greg and Grandpa Jack’s constant verbal (and physical) brawls are acted out perfectly by Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro. The scenes with these two actors were funny and definitely the most enjoyable parts to watch.
“Little Fockers” completely destroyed “Meet the Parents.” The plot was unclear and dull with nothing to draw in the audiences’ attention.
The first two movies, “Meet the Parents” and “Meet the Fockers,” were directed by Jay Roach while “Little Fockers” was directed by Paul Weitz. This change in directors may have contributed to the less appealing outcome of the movie.
“Little Fockers” is PG-13 and playing in theaters everywhere. Hopefully “Little Fockers” is the final film produced in the once enjoyable franchise started by “Meet the Parents.”
