After a former student of South Hills High School made online threats to their campus, Costa and the Manhattan Beach Police Department gave notice that there will be increased security at tonight’s CIF quarterfinal home football game against SHHS.
The West Covina Police Department investigated the threat made yesterday and arrested the adult suspect. The WCPD made a statement saying that they resolved the situation.
“In spite of the lack of a threat, the Manhattan Beach Police Department will have an even stronger presence at our game then they usually have,” Principal Dr. Ben Dale said in an email sent to MCHS parents. “[Attendees] should plan to arrive earlier than normal to enter the game.”
The MBPD reviewed the investigation and concluded that there is no further threat, according to Dale. The MCHS administration spoke to the SHHS head coach and principal to reaffirm the resolution of the threat.
“It is very important that we have more police presence at the game today,” sophomore Monica Jonas said. “With everything that has been going on in the world today, we need to be more cautious and aware about these types of threats.”
