The Mustangs won their third California Interscholastic Federation game against Dana Hills High School on Nov. 7. This victory sent Costa to the CIF finals.
The first quarter resulted in a tie with Costa and Dana Hills each scoring three points. In the second quarter, Costa scored an additional two points, while Dana Hills only scored one. The final score at halftime was 5-4, with the Mustangs in the lead.
“We definitely have some areas to focus and improve on,” senior, Troy Gleason said, “but we played hard together.”
The Mustangs continued to fight hard during the third quarter but fell short with the end score being 5-6, with Dana Hills up. Costa was able to turn the game around in the fourth quarter, scoring three points, while Dana Hills didn’t score any points. The Final score was 8-6.
“All that matter was that we won,” Gleason said, “We played hard together and got the results we wanted.”
The Mustangs, now with a 21-6 record, will now be playing in the CIF finals. They next play in the CIF finals on Saturday, Nov. 11 against Foothill High School in Santa Ana, California.
“Our routine has been the same for each game in CIF.” Gleason said, “We study our game plan and practice our strategy and take time to prepare our minds for competition as well.”
