The Mustangs defeated Redlands East Valley High School in their last home game and second California Interscholastic Federation match on Nov. 3, with a final score of 8-4.
“I think the game on Saturday went really well,” senior Clay Allen said, “Everyone played great team defense.”
In the first quarter, Costa scores two points, while Redlands didn’t score any points. During the second quarter, Redlands fought back, but the Mustangs continued to dominate the game. The ending score at halftime was 4-2, with Costa in the lead.
“We fought hard to be up by two at the half,” sophomore Dillon Clifton said, “Redlands East Valley fought hard too, it was just a matter of who could score more in the second half.”
The Mustangs and Redlands East Valley both continued to fight hard throughout the third quarter, but Costa came out with the lead, ending the quarter 7-3. In the fourth quarter, both teams scored an additional point each in the fourth score leaving Costa with a 8-4 victory.
“The victory felt great,” Clifton said. “but at the same time it was sad to play our last game at the pool.”
The Mustangs are now 20-6 overall. Costa will be playing an away game at Dana Point High School on Nov 7, in their third CIF game, if they win they will be going to finals.
“I think the team will play really well,” Allen said, “Our coaches are going to watch a lot of the films and give us a solid game plan.”
