BØRNS enchants audience through storytelling music

With his uniquely charming style, lively stage presence and overall wonderful live performance, contemporary pop star BØRNS enchanted audiences in his homecoming performance in Hollywood.

BØRNS mesmerized fans at his concert at the Greek Theater on Oct. 24 with his spontaneous stage presence, unique track additions and use of multi-colored storytelling elements to pull off a beautifully organized and absolutely original performance.

BØRNS, formally known as Garrett Clark Borns, is an alternative rock and indie pop singer-songwriter most famously known for his single “Electric Love,” which peaked in the top ten of Billboard’s US Adult Alternative Songs in 2016. His debut studio album “Dopamine” was released in May of 2016.

“Blue Madonna,” BØRNS’ sophomore studio album, released on Jan. 12, 2018, was produced by Thomas Schleiter and features special features from pop star Lana Del Rey. BØRNS noted that while recording, he took inspiration from a more melancholy tone on Los Angeles. In addition, Borns partnered with charity PLUS1 so that $1 from every ticket sold for his fall tour went to supporting organizations who work towards a cleaner environment through research, awareness and advocacy.

BØRNS’ unique sense of presentability on stage is undoubtedly a main reason his performance was so engaging and entertaining for those in attendance. While most concerts provoke an overly excited energy, BØRNS’ performance created one that showcased artistic flare while keeping the concert’s atmosphere friendly and naturally social. His presence amongst the crowd provoked a joyful but comfortable atmosphere that contributed to the intimacy of the Greek Theatre.

Additionally, BØRNS’ spontaneous addition of Elton John covers caught audiences off guard because of their unique composition and pleasantly unexpected appearances. BØRNS covered cult-classics “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” and “Bennie and the Jets” after his song “Bye- Bye Darling” with effortless musical skill that was original and satisfying. BØRNS also managed to utilize his piano playing skills by blending his own songs with John’s to keep audiences in suspense as to what he would play next. This also contributed to the element of suprise in his performance.

Most notably, BØRNS’ use of vivid storytelling elements incorporated within his performance contributed to greater meanings of songs on the set list. By using voiceovers of a child marveling at the different colors of a rainbow, BØRNS expressed an emotional backstory that paired certain songs with certain colors to create a concert that was entertaining and connected audience members on an emotionally stimulating level. Not only did this showcase BØRNS’ talents as an entertainer, but it also put a spotlight on his talents as an artist who is attentive to details and perspective.

Overall, BØRNS’ genuine stage presence, spontaneous Elton John covers and use of vibrant storytelling elements all contributed to a emotionally charming performance at the Greek Theater. BØRNS’ modern interpretation of 60s and 70s glam rock is refreshing and youthful.

BØRNS toured North America from Sept. 19- Oct. 28 with indie band Twin Shadow, and will be playing in the Corona Capital Festival on Nov. 17. “Blue Madonna” is available on most digital platforms such as iTunes and Spotify for free streaming or for $9.99.
