The Mira Costa Mustangs dominated the Leuzinger Olympians in their third bay league match of the season on Jan. 18 with a final score of 7-2.
The Mustangs started off strongly, very quickly. Mustangs senior D.J. Peper was able to tap in a deflection right in front of the goal only about 40 seconds into the game.
Back-to-back goals from seniors Peper and Charlie Pitts respectively about 7 minutes into the game contributed to the lead. Peper received a cross from junior Andy Macedo, which he easily struck into the left side of the goal. Pitts, on the very next offensive possession, beat the goalie and tapped the ball in.
Macedo scored his own goal halfway through the first half. He emerged from the middle of the field alone and put it past the goalie to take a 4-0 lead in the first half. Right before halftime, he added another goal after the Olympians had scored. The half ended with a score of 5-1.
Costa did not intend to slow down their offensive extermination of the Olympians when the second half started. Pitts scored once again about a minute and a half into the second half from a feed from senior Augie Diaz.
The game ended with a 7-2 score. Senior Shane Sisson scored his first goal of the season to end the game.
The Mustangs move to 9-1-3 with this victory and look for their third Bay League victory when they travel to Peninsula on Jan. 21.
