Despite being in the Top 20, Mira Costa Track was unable to clinch the number one spot at the Redondo Nike Track Invitational, competing against nearly fifty schools.

The Mustangs traveled to Redondo Union High School on March 8th at 5 pm and March 9th at 9 am to compete in the Nike Redondo Invitational. The meet featured 44 high schools in the men’s category and 49 high schools in the women’s category. Costa placed 18th in varsity mens and 10th in varsity womens.

“It felt really good to go and get back to the Redondo Nike Invite, because a lot of teams were there, “ junior Cara Chittenden said. “I felt I raced well in my 800 for our first big meet, and overall our team did very well. “

The Mustangs, now 1-3, will face Torrance High School at Zamperini Field at 3 pm on March 13th. Costa hopes to lower their times and push themselves more, junior Cara Chittenden said.

“My hopes for this season are to set a personal record in the mile, “ Chittenden said. “As a team I hope we can win bay league finals.”
