Mira Costa Varsity Softball put up a hard fight, but fell short and lost to Mayfair High School by a score of 7-1 at home on Mar. 8.
Mayfair scored early and held the Mustangs scoreless until the third inning. First baseman and outfielder Piper Neri started the rally with a double and an infield hit by outfielder Ella Lee scored Neri. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough and Mayfair held the Mustangs.
“I think as a team, we didn’t play as well as we had hoped to,” pitcher Katie Katsuyama said. “But we know what we have to work on for the future and we’re excited for the rest of the season.”
The Mustangs fall to a record of 1-5 and will play in the Katella Tournament at Katella High School on Mar. 9.
“I’m looking forward to the rest of our games because our team has a lot of talent,” Katsuyama said. “When we get more comfortable playing together, I think that we’re going to do really well.”
