With a strong performance by Mira Costa track, the Mustangs managed to steal the reins from Torrance High School and clinch the win.

The Torrance High School Meet took place at Zamperini Field on March 13th. Costa gave an impressive performance, despite the fact that the meet was designed to be a warm-up for Costa’s upcoming tournament, the Mustang Relays, junior pole vaulter Makena Nakaji said.

“As a team I feel like everyone was very supportive of each other, “ Nakaji said. “But, some of us did not compete in all of our normal events so we could save energy for the Mustang Relays.”

The Mustangs, now 2-3, will host their annual Mustang Relays Tournament at 9 am on March 16th. They hope to maintain good technique and continue to improve as the season progresses, Nakaji said.

“My goal for the rest of the season is to set my personal record in pole vault and long/triple jump, “ Nakaji said. “Hopefully everything comes together this Saturday [at the Mustang Relays]. “
