Costa girls beach volleyball started their season at the fifth Annual Division 1 Mira Costa High School Pairs Tournament. Junior Kate Reilly and sophomore Natalie Myszkowski took home the win on Feb. 10 in Manhattan Beach.
“The team has been putting in a lot of hours on the sand this season to get ready for their upcoming matches,” Reilly said. “We have been training really hard in the preseason on not only the physical and technical aspects of the game but also the mental side, which we hope will give us an edge,” Reilly said.
The Mustangs competed on March 9 against Santa Monica High School and Palisades Charter High School at Dockweiler Beach where they swept the competition. According to junior Jenny Jenks, the program has won six Interscholastic Beach Volleyball League (IBVL) Championships and is looking to add another trophy to the case during this season.
“An area that we can improve on to make us more successful is our defense and play making skills,” Jenks said.
