Mira Costa boys baseball beat Notre Dame High school 2-1 on Tuesday, May 7th in their second round of CIF playoffs, with a top performance by Jared Karros who pitched the whole game and threw five hitless innings.

“ Notre Dame is always a great team and we knew it was going to be a battle…but with Jared on the mound I was as confident as ever with the way he has been throwing… he pitched a great game and we were able to put up a few runs to move onto the quarter finals.” junior Kyle Karros said.

Both Mira Costa and Notre Dame scored within the first inning. The score was tied up until the fifth inning when Sophomore Jonah Storey scored off of a single hit by senior Nick Carpino, making the score 2-1 Mustangs with the lead.

“ Our team played well together and we had lots of good hits. Great pitching by Jared helped us secure the win.” Storey said.

The mustangs will next face off La Mirada at La Mirada high school on Friday May 10th, in the CIF quarter finals.

“ I think we have been playing very well and if we keep it up we can win this game and advance into the finals.” Storey said.
