On Jan. 25, the Mira Costa boys basketball team achieved a redeeming win against Palos Verdes High School, breaking their three game losing streak in the Bay League. The visiting Mustangs emerged victorious with a score of 58-43.
Seniors Elliot Ozer and Thomas Johnson helped Costa pull off the win. Ozer added 30 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Johnson crashed the boards, taking 11 rebounds and converting his efforts into 11 points. Junior Cooper Pugnale added 6 points, one being a three-pointer.
Costa’s record now stands at 9-12 overall and 2-3 in Bay League. The Mustangs host West Torrance High School on Jan. 28. The two teams are 1-1 in their two previous meetings earlier this season so this game will be the tiebreaker.
