The Mira Costa Mustangs boys soccer team lost 1-0 to the West High Warriors when they hosted them on Jan. 28. The loss brings Mira Costa’s boys soccer record to 10-2-4 overall and 3-1-2 in the Bay League.

The Warriors constantly showed more energy than the Mustangs and in the end, they pulled out the close victory. Ten minutes into the second half, the Warriors scored as a West player used his left foot to put the ball to the outside right post.

The Mustangs were frequently attacking and making long runs deep into the Warrior’s territory, yet could not score a goal throughout the game. Mira Costa mid-fielders seniors Joe Valenzuela and D.J. Peper orchestrated the offense. The forwards could not convert the passes into goals.

The Warriors displayed constant energy and intensity throughout the entire game. The Mustangs previously defeated West in the first match-up between these teams and the Warriors would not let it happen again. The Warriors beat the Mustangs to every ball.

The Mustangs look to win their fourth Bay League game of the season as they travel to Redondo to take on the Sea Hawks on Feb. 1.
