On Jan. 31, the Mira Costa girls water polo team hosted the Palos Verdes Sea Kings for the second rivalry match between these teams. Having played Palos Verdes only two weeks ago and lost, this game had high stakes and the Mustangs won 8-4.
Although there were strong performances from both teams, Costa emerged from the struggle victorious. This win brings Costa’s Bay League record to 5-1 and their season record to 15-6.
Without much scoring, this game highlighted Costa’s strong defense. Senior Natalie Lavinsky led her team with a number of blocks throughout the game.
Costa travels to Peninsula High School on Feb. 1 for their seventh Bay League game and last game before the Southern California Championships.
