The Mira Costa Girls Volleyball Team got served on Tuesday, losing to Redondo 3-0.

The Mustangs fell short against Redondo Union on Oct.1 at El Camino College. The girls fought hard in 3 close sets, scoring 25-17, 25-23, and 25-23, leading to an overall 3-0 loss.

Costa spent the first set trying to get into a rhythm that could out play the Seahawks. The Mustangs eventually began to work together and began to catch up to Redondo in the second set. Unfortunately, Costa’s serves weren’t consistent, which lead to the Seahawks taking the third set and winning the overall game, sophomore Savannah Standage said.

“Redondo Union is known as one of the best teams in the nation,” Standage said. “Even though we made a few unforced errors like missing some serves, I think as a team we played great defense, and we can only improve from this experience.”

The Mustangs, now 4-3 overall, are currently gearing up for the annual 2019 NIKE Tournament of Champions in Phoenix, AZ, which will begin this Friday 10/4.

“Moving forward, I think we all need to keep the same energy we had, but not get in our heads when the other team gets a run,” said sophomore Shannon Knight. “We need to just keep playing our game and keep fighting like we always do.”
