Through her heartfelt album, “Lover,” Swift reveals her vulnerability and the drama surrounding her life from her early teen years until now.
With compelling songs and powerful lyrics, “Lover” includes upbeat and comforting tracks. Swift includes a variety of genres, such as pop and country. Swift also has a wide-range of instruments and vocals. However, many beats and melodies are repeated which makes the songs blend together.
Swift’s seventh album, “Lover,” includes 18 songs. She also has several EPs and live recordings. This album features Brenden Urie from Panic! at the disco and the Dixie Chicks.
Swift has received 23 grammy awards and 53 nominations. She also holds the record of most Billboard Music Awards won by a female. Swift won the Most Awarding Country and Pop Album, for her albums “Fearless” and “1989,” in history.
“You need to calm down” is bewildering and confusing. The track begins with mellow beat that clashes with harsh lyrics and a rough message. However, the beat eventually speeds up and transforms into a fast and jarring song with strong vocals.
One of the slower tracks on the album, “Soon you’ll get better” features the Dixie Chicks. The raw emotion behind their voices, as well as the slow pacing melody matches up perfectly for the soothing listening experience. The song contains slow and simple beats that allows for the listener to enjoy her music.
Some of the more compelling and impressive beats are found in the song “Afterglow.” The beat is constantly speeding up and down as Swift’s voice fluctuates from high to low. The song showcases Swift’s voice as it can hit a variety of high and low notes. The song is about Swift admitting to her mistakes in her relationship with the British actor, Joe Alwyn.
The featured artists, Brenden Urie and the Dixie Chicks, contribute to the album by adding to the various sounds which help Swift’s vocals thrive. Breden Urie, who is featured in the track “ME!,” adds to the overall tune by adding a deeper voice, which adds variety to the song
Despite Swift’s amazing vocals, many of the songs sound very similar. The songs mesh together, which makes it hard to notice the difference between them. However, some tracks stand out more than others, which allows for diversity within her album.
“Lover” captures Swift’s outlook on life through many different beats and vocals. The album provides positive messages, like learning from one’s mistakes, that make the album more diverse. Although some on the beats and vocals may clash, “Lover” shows the true meaning of love through a positive stance.
Released on August 23, “Lover” is available to stream on Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon and Youtube. It can be purchased on platforms such as iTunes for $11.99.
