The Costa girls water polo team competed in the Southern California Championship Tournament in Orange County starting on Feb. 3 and ending on Feb. 5.  They played five games.

The tournament started slow, with Costa losing the first two games with scores 13-5 and 10-9.  Costa never had a lead over the other team in the first game.

The last three games of the tournament picked up for the Mustangs. Costa won their third game 11-10, their fourth game 10-3, and their fifth and final game of the tournament 9-8.

The largest contributing player in the tournament was senior Marisa Purcell, who led the offensive attacks.

The scores from this tournament bring the team’s season record to 19-8 but their Bay League record stays at 6-1.  The team will next play against Redondo High School on Feb. 9 at the Costa pool.
