Milky Chance once again proves their abilities to create completely unique music in their short but sweet preview of their new album, “Mind the Moon.”
Milky Chance’s preview “Mind the Moon” is an effective prelude to the album’s release, as it leaves the listener wanting to hear more of the exotic and lively tunes that are found in the preview. The tracks from the album that are released offer an exciting taste of “Mind the Moon’s” potential.
Milky Chance is a German folk group consisting of lead singer Clemens Rehbein, bassist Phillip Dausch, and guitarist Antonio Gregor. The group is known for their alternative rock music with hints of Reggae and electronic sounds. They are most known for their single “Stolen Dance,” released back in 2013.
The preview of “Mind the Moon” consists of four tracks from the album, including their new single, “Rush (feat. Teme Tan).” The other three new songs are titled “The Game,” “Fado” and “Daydreaming.”
When taking a first listen to these tracks, the most obvious aspect is the exotic sound that they exhibit. There is a heavy prevalence of Reggae in each of the songs. The blend between Reggae and modern electronic beats give the tracks their impressive and exciting originality.
Milky Chance’s single, “Rush (feat. Teme Tan), is especially unique due to the addition of Teme Tan singing in french towards the end of the song. The verses in french make for a pleasant surprise in the catchy song and are a fitting addition to the album’s funky music.
The most catchy track is “The Game.” This track includes both a bubbly beat as well as memorable lyrics with a standout chorus. The lyrics themselves have a somber underlying message about struggling with changes in life, however the melody of the song is light-hearted and cheery.
Milky Chance’s four-track preview of their new album “Mind the Moon” is a promising look at what the album will have to offer listeners. Milky Chance builds off their reputation of producing music that is exclusive to their signature sound.
“Mind the Moon” will be released on Nov. 15 and the four-track preview can be listened to now on platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music and can be purchased on iTunes.
