The Mira Costa boys soccer team kicked off in their first game of the season against Torrance. The boys defeated Torrance, 3-2.

“Obviously our main goal is to win, said senior, James Riker. “We wanted our back line to stay compact and strong. We were the better team and we couldn’t allow  them any chances. In the last few minutes thankfully we scored.”

In the first half, senior Carson Nguyen scored in the first ten minutes. Kenneth Yap added to Costa’s lead with a shot outside of the box. In the last thirteen minutes, Nguyen found the back of the net in the last 10 minutes, ending the game in a 3-2 win.

“We were really hyped up for our first game, said senior Jared Tang. “It was going to be the first time a lot of us played soccer with each so we were excited to see what we could do. After the game we got a last second win so we were super excited to see what our team could do.”

The boys play again on Wednesday, December 4th against Edison at 5pm.

“After winning our first game it was a pretty special feeling and it was very exciting,” Senior, Alex Rieg said. “I’m excited for the rest of the season and hopefully we keep playing our best.”
