The Costa MUN team participated from Jan. 27 through Feb. 2 in the Harvard Model United Nations Conference in Boston.
This is one of the largest and most competitive conferences with over 4,000 students from over 400 schools taking part. Costa earned Best Large Delegate school award and took home seven first-place gavels. From the 24 Costa students competing for the delegation, they also received five Outstandings (second place), two honorable mentions and one diplomatic accommodation.
“Overall I had a great experience and the trip was super fun,” junior Ava Moffet said. “All of our hard work paid off and we are all really happy to have brought back the Best Large School award.”
Selected students are invited to an away conference via a written invitation from either Mr. Knutson or Ms. Choi. Costa MUN is ranked worldwide and has been competing and traveling for over 20 years. Students in the programs gain skills in public speaking, debate, research, writing, and today’s political climate.
“It was a very successful debate and we absolutely swept the conference,” gavel winner and junior Matthew Fry said. “We were competing against the best prep schools in the country including Dalton and Horraceman.”
