After five years of radio silence, Tame Impala finally released their newest album, “The Slow Rush” on February 14.

The album is a blast from the past due to its retro-style tracks, which feature slow beats, electronic guitar riffs and unwavering vocals. The music is tranquil and allows one to calm down and relax, and the songs sound different than other albums as the songs are more electric and thrilling.

Tame Impala is an Australian indie psychedelic band formed in early 2012. Although listed as a band with members such as Jay Watson, Dominic Simper, Cam Avery, Julien Barbagallo and “others,” Kevin Parker is actually the face of Tame Impala. The band headlined Coachella in 2019 and put on an impressive performance featuring songs from their previous album, Currents and Lonerism, and new hit songs “Borderline” and “Patience.”

“The Slow Rush” is the band’s fourth studio album release and contains twelve tracks. The album launched on February 14 by Universal Music Australia. Tame Impala released songs such as “Borderline,” “Posthumous Forgiveness,” “Lost in Yesterday,” and “It Might Be Time” before the album’s release. .

“The Slow Rush” incorporates diverse and unique tracks. The album has some songs that are slower paced, and others that are more upbeat and thrilling. This aspect of the album feels unlike other indie and psychedelic albums, making it highly memorable.

The track “Instant Destiny” is refreshing with its originality and a resemblance to the band’s old style with dense instrumentation. Parker’s vocals are flawless and never stray away from the steady, electric beat.

Although the tracks on “The Slow Rush” captivate listeners, they eventually become repetitive and boring due to the monotonous beat and the unvarying instrumentals. Adding to this, few songs on the album contain a chorus and seem to carry on with the same beat for much too long. Vocalist Kevin Parker’s vocals persistently remain in the same range, making the tracks sound highly repetitive and gradually more boring as the album progresses.

“The Slow Rush” is a unique and amusing album. Tame Impala creatively incorporates an electric theme into the album, which is a new feature for the band and a fresh touch. Despite the album’s slight dullness and monotony, Tame Impala’s artistic originality is consistent throughout the album.

Released on February 14, “The Slow Rush” is available for purchase for $9.99 on iTunes and for streaming on Spotify, Youtube and Apple Music.
