Costa’s new self-screening application allows students to safely participate in outdoor school sports, according to ruvna.com.
Costa has made the transition to a new self-screening platform, RUVNA, an emergency response system. According to ruvna.com, this new self-screening platform is being used to assess if student athletes are safe to attend training.
“Parents/guardians will now receive texts/emails daily,” Principal Dr. Ben Dale stated on his weekly Costa Connected update. “You only need to fill the screening out on the days that your student would normally report to conditioning.”
This platform differs from the previously used self-screening platform because this one requires parent or guardian verification by having them answer health questions versus the athletes themselves.
“Answering the RUVNA is a must since the answers affect more than just the player’s cohort but the trust of their teammates,” varsity girls tennis coach Allen Yap said. “The players are ready to compete, and I am excited to have the season around the corner!”
Parents receive a daily text or email with the link, and once they fill out the questionnaire, a QR code appears and must be sent to the athletes. Once the athletes arrive at training, they will have the QR code scanned by their coach, verifying that it is safe for them to participate in training.
“I think that this new process has been really efficient so far,” junior and girls tennis player Mia Sampson said. “We all feel really safe knowing that everyone playing in the workouts is cleared and totally healthy.”
