Foo Fighters newest album “Medicine at Midnight” encompasses the iconic group’s vintage, dad rock stylistic music and doesn’t disappoint.
The band, since 1994, bounced back with their new album. This new album leaves nostalgia and maintains Foo Fighters’ signature touch of their fist pounding rhythms and hard core guitar riffs. Celebrating their tenth album, they leave nothing behind and only leaves their listeners impressed.
The album recorded before quarantine stayed true to Foo Fighters customary sound. Member Dave Grohl presumably having had enough surprises to last him a lifetime while he was a member of Nirvana – although an itchiness seems to have manifested in recent years, added a lot of talent to this album in particular with his brilliant songwriting. The band creating iconic music since 1994 has never failed to produce an album that keeps their listeners satisfied.
The album includes inspiration from the song “Let’s Dance” by David Bowie. Featuring drummer-percussionist Omar Hakim, he left his unique percussionist touch in a few of their other songs as well. The 36 minutes of sprightly unabashed grooves blissfully fills ears with nostalgic harmony. It full circles with inspiration and collaboration of other musicians.
The song “Waiting on War” pushes the album to thrive with its roaring lyrics and bopping chords, clearly intended for sports arena-sized audiences into singing along, as well as the most popular songs on the album, “Shame Shame” and “Making A Fire” that throw amazing guitar playing and again jaw dropping catchy lyrics.
The band possess the innate ability to charm anyone who heaves into their music. The Foo Fighters played the inauguration afterparty of President Joe Biden, whose broad call for healing and unity was epitomized by two artists who call for healing and unity in the broadest possible terms. This album puts forth a call for healing and unity literally and lyrically.
The album upkeeps a hyper upbeat style until the song “Chasing Birds”, which is the second to last song of the album. The lyrics of this song say “Bleeding hearts like mine, chasing birds.” This song unspokenly tells a story with its ambiguous lyrics that are fanomonaly written by the one and only Dave Grohl.
The lyrics in “Midnight Medicine” are what puts the album on the high pedestal it deserves. This album maintains amazing songwriting and lyrics that creates unexplainable happiness and relatability to fans and listeners.
“Midnight Medicine” leaves no room to fall short and unforgivably makes history with its true rock nature. Fans and listeners everywhere will be left impressed with this awaited album.
“Midnight Medicine” was released on Feb 5. and can be streamed on all music platforms.
