To help students manage their time and improve their organization, Costa counselors Eliza Santarosa and Keshia Fields started up Google Classroom demonstrations for students and parents every Wednesday in January.
The lessons started at one p.m. and lasted for a duration of 20 to 30 minutes. The tutorials aimed to prevent students from losing track of time and giving up on the organizational skills that many were accustomed to during the previous school year, according to Fields.
“This is my eighth year at Costa as a counselor, but my first year as a virtual counselor, and it’s a totally different experience at home. I know students are feeling the same way about school,” Fields said. “Staying organized in a remote environment isn’t easy, and Google Calendar is definitely something Mrs. Santarosa and I rely heavily on to stay on top everything we have to remember.”
Through these demonstrations, students and parents learned information about the benefits of utilizing Google Calendar and how this calendar can increase the efficiency and motivation of students.
“Our hope is that this program will help students keep up with everything they have going on everyday, like logging into their zoom classes on time, completing asynchronous work and completing regular homework assignments,” Fields said.
