Costa softball fell to Long Beach Wilson, losing 11-1 on Saturday at Costa.
“Our strong infield kept the ball inside the dirt, preventing extra runs,” junior Amanda Siegel said. “Also, at the end, we started a rally at the top of our line-up that could have taken us somewhere if it happened earlier in the game”
Although the team lost, freshman Juju O’Brien had two hits, while freshmen Katie Hoff and Amelia Styskal-Ward pitched four and three innings, respectively.
“We are a younger team [that] shows promise and talent, but [there are] a few areas of work to get better,” Siegel said. “We are improving our communication and drive on the field so we play with certainty in ourselves and our teammates.”
The softball team took the field again yesterday against Millikan High School at Millikan High, but the scores were not available at the time of publication.
“I am really looking forward to making friendships with the lower classmen, seeing our team gel together in the field and winning some more games,” Siegel said.
