Clare and Lauren reflect on their chaotic time as Editors-in-Chief

Editors-in-Chief

If you had asked either of us our sophomore year when we joined La Vista what our senior year on the paper would look like we can guarantee you we would have both painted a very different picture than what we experienced.

We were given the Editors-In-Chief position at the start of this pandemic, not knowing what the future had in store or if we would be able to have a normal school year. We started off our year in charge of La Vista completely virtual and with little hope of being able to produce a paper.

However, after hour-long calls with Mac and lots of permission slips, we were able to bring La Vista into editors’ homes. A rough start to the year in unprecedented times was definitely not how we hoped this year would go, but we are extremely proud of the work we and everyone on staff have accomplished. We would never have been able to do this without our amazing
support system.

To Mia and Katie: We know that this is a crazy time for you at the end of junior year, and you now have this intimidating new task of becoming editors in-chief in front of you, but after seeing the amazing work the two of you have put into this paper over the past two years, we are confident that you will take La Vista to great places next year.

To Mac: Thank you for advising us these past two years; we could not have accomplished all that we have to such a high caliber without you. We thank you for all that you have taught us on the fundamentals of journalism.

To next year’s La Vista staff: We cannot wait to see the amazing things you will create and hope that you are able to experience all the amazing things that La Vista offers, both in the newspaper and in the real world. Continue striving to get that next great lead and remember that La Vista is not only a school newspaper, but a family that should be cherished.

Again, thank you La Vista for all of the unforgettable friends, mental breakdowns, headaches and memories.
