“Body Language” carries out Shelton’s authentic vocals with the addition of powerful melodies perfectly accentuating the artist’s many talents.
The album excels with its ability to please new listeners, however, misses the mark when it comes to differentiating itself from some of the artist’s past releases. Although remaining strong vocally, Shelton seems to play it safe with the reuse of some of his well-loved rhythms that don’t excite some of his long-time fans.
Blake Shelton is an American country music singer who is also known for his role as a judge on the televised singing competition known as “The Voice.” The country artist rose to fame with the release of his single “Austin” in 2001 that landed him on the Billboard chart.
Released by Warner Bros, Nashville, “Body Language” is Shelton’s twelfth studio album and was released on May 21. The album is composed of 12 tracks and features a collaboration with Gwen Stefani.
The collaborational track with Stefani, “Happy Anywhere,” marks itself as the most notable song in the album. The singing chemistry between the two artists brings listeners through an emotionally-grabbing experience while forming a strong connection with them. The blend of Shelton and Stefani adds dimension to the album with diverse vocals and a raw feel.
Another high-point of the album is its ability to instill a good-feel in listeners. The upbeat and relatable vocals make it versatile for any country music lovers. “Body Language” brings out an overall positive feeling and leaves listeners with a pleasant musical experience.
Many of the tracks in the album seem to blend into each other and don’t leave a large impact on listeners. The album consists of many repeated rhythms that cause them to blend into one another and make “Body Language” feel safe and unoriginal.
The album stays true to Shelton’s typical country feel but lacks the wow factor to define his career in itself. “Body Language” offers catchy lyrics and uplifting melodies that stop it from being a failure while still allowing the album to have a strong impact on its listeners.
“Body Language” was released on May 21 and is available for purchase on iTunes and Google Play and can be streamed on a variety of services including Spotify, Apple Music, and Youtube Music.
