Football lost its 2nd game of the season against the St. Francis Golden Knights, 44-35, in an away game Friday, August 27th. The Mustangs started out strong in the first quarter, with the help of Number 22, Junior Mathew Kraskouskas.

“Our line is everything, I mean from practice to the field they work harder than anybody,“ Kraskouskas said. “I think our defense could’ve done better this game and individually I feel like I could’ve done better this game but we are working harder and harder every day and I promise you this is not the last time you’ll see the Mira Costa Mustangs.”

Junior Kraskouskas instantly began the game with a 78-yard touchdown into the endzone. Senior Van Graw successfully kicked a one point convert, resulting in an additional point and a 7-0 lead for the Mustangs.

“It was incredible this game, we achieved running yards with a junior that had very little experience up until the season,” senior Wes Widmer said. “I think we can improve a lot from where we are today but beyond that I think we’re doing awesome.”

During the third quarter, the Mustangs managed to come back 28-24. According to Widmer, although they fell short in the end, Costa football is hopeful for their next game as they acknowledge their performance.

“It’s really Dom Richardson, he’s been coaching incredibly and teaching proper technique. It’s really a wonder having a coach like that.” senior Jonny Nguyen said after the game. “Costa has never really had anything like that to the point where every single thing can be corrected and be made better; and it is made better every single time.”
