The National Merit Scholarship Program announced on Sept. 17 that six seniors from Costa are among the 2020 semifinalists.

Mia Cho, Xavier Dargan, Caroline Kiely, Joah Lee, Vivian Liu and Isamar Zhu are a part of the 16,000 semifinalists. 15,000 of these semifinalists will move on to be finalists through an applicaton program.

“I feel very honored, and I am truly grateful to all my teachers, as well as to the administration for providing us the opportunity to take the PSAT at Costa this year despite the difficult circumstances,” said Xavier Dargan, a 2021 National Merit Scholar semifinalist.

The National Merit Scholarship Program will choose 15,000 to be finalists based on looking through their grades, a personal essay, as well as an SAT or ACT score.

“I am excited to go through the rest of the application process, and I’m working hard on my application,” said Caroline Kiely, a 2020 National Merit Scholar semifinalist.
