Los Angeles County issued an order calling for all schools to require students and staff members to wear masks outdoors.
The new outdoor masking requirement is due to the current rise in COVID-19 cases in the South Bay. Additionally, staff and students are now encouraged to wear medical-grade masks. New Costa protocols are in large part due to the rapid spread of Omicron throughout Costa’s student and teacher populations.
“I agree with the new mask mandates so we can slow down the COVID-19 spread, but I feel as if it is hard to enforce it on so many kids, especially outside,” sophomore Ellie Penczar said.
