Costa girls lacrosse triumphed over Westlake, finishing with a score of 6-5, on Mar. 3.
The team got off to a rough start, ending the first half behind by three goals with a score of 2-5. However, the team entered the second half focusing on locking down on defense, fouling less, and having more offensive possessions, according to junior defender Molly Traughber.
“Our game against Westlake was a back and forth battle, but we stayed strong and worked amazingly as a team,” senior captain and attacker Chloe Shingles said. “From both ends of the field, we had amazing plays and movement of the ball as a team.”
Towards the end of the second half, sophomore attacker Elise Murphy scored, tying the game. With two minutes left in the game, Shingles scored, making this Costa’s fourth consecutive win this season.
“Every single player on our team had a positive contribution to this game. We worked together as a collective whole and trusted each other on the field,” Shingles said. “Our bond as a team is so strong, and I am excited to see how the rest of our season goes.”
