Costa girls lacrosse defeated El Segundo High School, 14-5, in its game on Mar. 2.
The Mustangs started off strong with a lead of 9-2 by the end of the first half. According to junior defender Molly Traughber, the team’s goals going into the game were to get goals on the board early and keep pressure on the El Segundo’s top scorer.
“In future games, our defense can improve by communicating louder…[and] sliding quicker to the player threatening goal,” Traughber said. “[Overall,] our defense is coming together nicely thanks to [our goalie’s] communication from the goal.”
The team kept up their lead throughout the second half, leaving them with a record of 3-0. Its next game is home against Westlake on Mar. 3.
“[Today’s] game went well. Our team played really well on both the defensive and offensive ends and goals were scored by many different players,” Traughber said. “It was good to see everyone contributing, and this just gives us confidence going into the game against Westlake tomorrow.”
