On April 19, Costa boys indoor volleyball lost, 3-2, in a match against Redondo Union in the Costa gym. The Mustangs fought to stay in the game but lost by three points in the fifth set.

“Despite a few controversial calls, we had multiple chances to win,” sophomore libero Zach Chapin said. “Unfortunately, we fell short in the end.”

The Mustangs took the first set, 25-18; however, the two teams were neck and neck throughout the second. Junior middle blocker Murphy Glasgow tied the score, 25-25, but Redondo pulled through and won the second set, 27-25.

“It can be hard watching from the side- lines,” sophomore opposite and setter Tread Rosenthal said. “However, I am always here to support my teammates.”

After losing the second set, the Mustangs came back to win the third set. Sophomore opposite Stone Seligson spiked the ball down the line to make it set point. On the last point, Costa won, 25-21.

“The other team came more prepared than we did,” sophomore outside hitter Victor Loiola said. “If we had responded to their strategies in a better way, we would have pulled through.”

The team’s next game took place yes- terday, where it played against Corona del Mar at home in CIF. Details of this game were not available at the time of print.

“Even though we didn’t come through with the win, we learned a lot from this game,” senior outside hitter Mick Bakos said. “We won Bay League, which was our goal from the beginning of the season.”
