The South Bay Community Coalition Against Hate invites all members of the community to participate in United Against Hate Week this November 13-19th. Across 7 days, community members have the opportunity to participate in civic actions to put an end to hateful biases which impose a threat to safety and civility of our neighborhood.

“A lot of new positivity focused movements have taken place on our campus recently,” Sophomore Shelby Wallis said, “But events that involve our entire community unite our small town and make a bigger difference.”

To kickstart the event, an event for community families takes place at Polliwog Park on Sunday, November 13th from 1:00-3:00 PM. The event will begin with a Rainbow Ribbon-cutting ceremony, will include special guest speakers, snacks, lawn sign distribution, and more children’s activities.

“I’m most excited about the Race To Be Human Movie Screening at Costa on Tuesday the 15th,” junior Thomas Nykal said, “From 6:30-8:30 in the auditorium, anyone can come to the free screening of the new documentary film. I’m looking forward to the panel discussion centered around the impacts of race and racism on mental health through different perspectives of experts, educators, students, and other community members.”

A community-wide moment of silence will take place at 9:31 AM on Friday, November 18th. Participants are encouraged to pause and quietly reflect on positively supporting others in your community. The goal of this movement is to foster hope and strength throughout the community. “MB STANDS UNITED AGAINST HATE” Lawn signs will be made available on the 13th for pickup at MBUSD schools, city facilities and other locations throughout the community.
