On Oct. 25, girls volleyball went head to head against long time rivals Palos Verdes High School. The Mustangs swept the Sea Kings in three sets.
According to sophomore libero Taylor Deckert, the Mustangs brought their A game, never faltering in their performance. This allowed them to hold a strong lead in the first set, winning 25-15.
“We were able to get them out of system frequently,” Deckert said. “This didn’t give them a chance to set their hitters on the net.”
According to Deckert, the Mustangs were able to keep this strong momentum going throughout
the second set. They stayed on top of their offense and kept their energy up all the way until they won the second set 25-21.
“Everything was going smoothly,” Deckert said. “We did not give them a chance to come back in the third set.”
The third set was yet again a steal from the Mustangs. They won 25-17, ending the match with a final score of 3-0. The Mustangs are now on their way to their third CIF playoff game. Next, the Mustangs will take on Mater Dei, another rival of Costa. The two will compete on Saturday, Oct. 29 at home.
“We know what we need to do to win,” Deckert said. “We are hoping to be southern CIF champions.”
